The Colorado City Police Department is getting some upgrades in equipment, thanks to the County and District Attorneys. County Attorney Ty Wood and D.A. Ann Reed have helped the local department with some badly needed tools.
Drug verification kits now used by the PD, thanks to funds provided by the DA Ann Reed, also some of the funds will be used to buy 2 new patrol cars and uniforms for the officers.
A new Breathalizer for the CCPD, thanks to money made available by County Attorney Ty Wood.
Halloween always brings out the spooks at Fuller Foods, and once again Jim Baum was asked to be one of the judges of the annual Halloween costume contest!
And the prize money went to..(left to right) Martha Chavez, Special Recognition, Jessica Sparks won $50.00, Virginia Minton won $75.00 and the big winner was Christina Griffin who took home an easy $100.00!!

Anyone remember anything about The White Elephant Ranch? It was a part of our early ranching industry, and 3 descendants of the family stopped by our studios yesterday with hopes of gathering information.

Petticoats on the Prairie moved their show to Colorado City and the crowds followed! The 2 day event was a huge success and brought shoppers from as far away as New Mexico, Breckenridge, Midland, Amarillo and San Angelo! The Show Barns were both full with everything from antiques to armoires..and everything in between! The Rodeo Queens, producers of the event, report that they had vendors come to sell from Dallas, New Mexico, Weatherford, San Angelo and all points in between, including local shops from the downtown area.
Then-N-Again had an impressive display and came all the way from New Mexico!
Lati's Pottery Pig from Sweetwater was also at the show with incredible metal art!

At the recent Texas Municipal League Annual Conference and Exhibition, held in Houston on October 11-14, the City of Colorado City was presented the 2011 Municipal Excellence Award in City Spirit for cities of less than 25,000 population. The award recognizes the city for its “Reclaim Colorado City” program.
Thanks to the efforts of Valley Fair social worker Oran Carroll, the Midland Festival Ballet traveled to Colorado City and put on an incredible perfomance this past Sunday! Residents of Valley Fair Lodge were on hand, as well as 60-75 spectators.

You couldn't have asked for better weather for the Colorado City Fire Department's Boer Goat Cook-off! The maximum of 55 teams were set up and ready to roll out the best in everything from brisket to beans and of course, some Boer Goat!
