Fire at 10th and Austin Street......

Firefighters were called out this morning to a house fire at 10th and Austin Street.  No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.



Water Break at 10th and Austin...

A big water break occured Sunday at 10th and Austin....thousands of gallons of water were lost...citizens are being asked to conserve water and to boil their water for the next 24 hours.

Update on Wolf Stadium!

Things are moving right along at Wolf Stadium with the artificial turf!  Workers assured us the field will be ready by September 1st!

Colorado City welcome new business.....

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held yesterday for Colorado City's newest business, "Mailboxes and More."  They are located at 17th and Hickory and offer a variety of services, including FedEx services.

A mess at the Courthouse!

Debbie Carlock was simply going to catch up on some work at the Courthouse on Sunday afternoon.  Never did she imagine what awaited her when she opened the doors!  She heard water in the elevator shaft and soon realized she was standing in water!  Apparently a water pipe had burst sometime Saturday and the Courthouse was flooded.  After a few phone calls, help arrived and the clean-up has begun!

Congressman Mike Conaway visits Colorado City!

Congressman Mike Conaway made a recent trip to Colorado City to visit with constituents and give them an update on what is going on in the current legislation.  Local citizens met at the Civic Centen on Wednesday to visit and ask questions of the Congressman.

Game Warden Randy Bullard retires...

After more than 20 years as the Mitchell County Game Warden, Randy Bullard has retired!  A reception was held this past Friday at the First Baptist Church honoring Randy for all of his years of service.  Randy will be moving on to manage the Spade Ranch..best of luck to Randy Bullard!

Wolf Stadium coming along.....

Rolls of artificial turf wait to be put on the field at Wolf Stadium!

And here is where it goes.....the project has a September 1st target date for completion.

More toys for the "Hailey's Hope" display!

8 bags of toys were left in Dunn with a note that read "for Hailey".  The toys will be added to the display at 1805 Chestnut St. in Colorado City.  Hailey Dunn has been missing almost 8 months....if you have any information on her whereabouts, please contact the Colorado City Police Department at 325-728-5294.

Lone Wolf Creek shows signs of the drought....

It's a sign of the times for sure...the drought is effecting Lone Wolf Creek...which runs through Ruddick Park.  Fish are dying and floating on the banks of the creek.  The City has plans to remove some of the excess soil to deepen the creek for the future.

The Relay for Life....

The extreme heat did not stop folks from turning our for the Annual Relay for Life event at Hutchinson.  Things were a little different this year, with a 5K Walk, a kid's Fun Run and the event was only one night instead of the usual overnight.  Over $13,000.00 was raised to help in the fight against cancer!

Update on the football field.....

This is a shot of the football field at Wolf Stadium as of yesterday!  Preparations are being made for the artificial turf to be laid down...will it be ready for the first home game?

Truck accident leaves a big mess on Interstate 20!

A truck accident that occured last week on Interstate 20 sure left a big mess!  Luckily the driver of the truck was not seriously injured, but crews had to close down part of the Interstate to clean up the oil-based paint.  Thanks to Debby Mitchell for the photos.
