Mitchell County Reunion a big success despite the rain!

The Mitchell County Reunion was a big hit again this year, former resident Joe Kirshbaum was the guest speaker and had lots of stories to tell.  He even named some names and kept the crowd laughing for some 45 minutes!  Joe has also bought Summer's Out West from Lana Vardeman in Westbrook, and is planning on moving back to Colorado City soon.

Frontier Days in Colorado City!

A petting zoo and County Fair were highlights at the Frontier Days, held yesterday at the Railhead building in downtown Colorado City. 

This young lady had fun at the petting zoo!


Lots of animals were on hand at the Railhead Building!


Taking 1st place for the 2nd year in a row....it's Ray Ritchey in the Ice Cream Freeze-Off!  Mike Ratliff and Amanda Jo Ritchey also entered the contest, Mike took 2nd place!


New Gun Collection on display at Museum!

There is a new display at our Heart of West Texas Museum!  It is an antique gun display, on permanent loan from Richard Wistrand.

CHS Wall of Honor Inductees!

Congratulations to the new CHS Wall of Honor Inductees!  Ceremonies were held September 28th and the Colorado Middle School. 

Holly Neff O'Neil, now one of the nation's leading attorneys and a 1980 graduate of CHS.  She is seen here being presented the award by former CHS Principal Jerry Reynolds, with current Principal Mark Merrell looking on.


1953 CHS graduate C.A. Wilkins, who served as a jet pilot in both Korea and Vietnam.  Seen here with long time friend Buster Aycock, members of his family and Sharon Davis, Curator of the WASP Museum in Sweetwater!


Kyle Hains shows off a wrist watch that belonged to his late father, Charles Hains.  The watch was given to Charles during his time training at NASA.  The late Charles Hains was added to the CHS Wall of Honor.


Luis Rios, Pulitzer Prize Winner, and a graduate of CHS recieves his award, along with former teacher Earline Sellier.

City gets a new Bull Dozier!

The City recently purchased a new bull dozier for the landfill..Mayor Carol Sue Dakan is seen here about to give it a test drive!

Wolf PAC hosts a Hamburger Bash!

The Wolf PAC hosted a Hamburger Bash recently, with the hopes of giving more information to the public on the proposed bond election for a new school facility for Colorado City.  Over 100 citizens came out for the meal!

Groundbreaking for the new Loraine School!

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held last night at the site of the soon to be new Loraine ISD school building.

Loraine reunion!

The Loraine Homecoming and Reunion brought back lots of folk for this past weekend!

Brittany Valdiva preparing for a journey.

Meet Brittany Valdiva, she is raising money for an 11 month journey to 11 foreign countries.  Her mission is to share the word of Jesus.  She is shown here with her four-legged friend Milo!

Jack Hollis visits KVMC/KAUM!

Former Chamber of Commerce Manager Jack Hollis was back in town recently.  He and his friend Mary Alice visited with Linda Baum at KVMC/KAUM.  Jack is now a very spry 94 years old!

MCH Health Fair a huge success!

It was a busy day Saturday at the Mitchell County Hospital, as they held a Health Fair in the East Atrium.  Various booths offered everything from cardiac screenings to cholesterol checks.  The Air Evac team was also on hand with their helicopter.

Reggie Spencer speaks at the Wallace Senior Citizen Center.

CISD Superintendant Reggie Spencer was the special guest at the Wallace Senior Citizens Center yesterday, talking about the proposed school bond election. 

A good crowd was on hand for the presentation and meal.
