Scenes from the 4-H Mud Bog!!
It was another great day for a mud bog at the Fairgrounds this past Saturday! Sunny skies and warm weather set the stage for lots of mud-slinging and family fun!

State Park holds 1st Annual Bike Rodeo!
A good family time at the State Park this past Saturday....the first annual Bike Rodeo was held and was well attended by area families!

Mayor and Council Members sworn in at City Council meeting....
After a sweeping win in the mayoral race, incumbent Carol Sue Dakan was sworn in at last night's council meeting, along with Sammy Contreras, Sue Mason and Keith Hizer.
Both Sammy Contreras and Keith Hizer were both nominated for Mayor Pro-Tem and a tie vote will have to be decided at a later date.

Heart of West Texas Benefit a big success!
Steaks and good music were the highlights of the recent Heart of West Texas Museum Fundraiser. A steak dinner was served at the Heritage House, then the crowd moved to the Opera House for a night of good music and fun with Bill Worrell and Jay Boy Adams.

Old Bricks and a Benchmark!
Patrick Gainey, a contract worker for the County, made quite an interesting discovery recently while tilling the NE corner of the Courthouse property. First he unearthed a benchmark that has been missing since 1982. Next he discovered what appears to be original bricks from the 2nd courthouse made out of mud from the Colorado River.

A very successful Fire Recovery Fundraiser!
An estimated $9,000.00 dollars was raised at the Fire Recovery Fundraiser held this past Saturday at the Railhead Building. The fundraiser was sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club and Lions Club.

About 40 people attended the political forum held past Thursday at the Civic Center, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
Spring show of Petticoats on the Prairie!
Once again, Petticoats on the Prairie was a magical event!! Even the high winds on Friday couldn't put a damper on the spririts of the shoppers who came to the Spring show from as far away as Washington!! One of the highlights of the event was the "The Picnic on the Prairie" held on Friday morning, prior to the opening of the barn. A delicious lunch was catered by Bama's House of Colorado City, and 40 plus people attended and were also treated by a presentation from photographer Lara Blair! Lara Blair's trip was sponsored by the 1st National and City National Banks of Colorado City. A Silent Auction was also held to benefit Gateway Family Services, which serves Mitchell, Scurry, Fischer and Nolan counties. Plans are already underway for the Fall Show, set for October 21st and 22nd!
