Accident sends two local residents to hospital.

Photos of one vehicle accident April 25th at 4:40 pm at Laskey Road overpass. Tommy and Betty Fuller of Colorado City were air lifted out and are reported in stable condition this morning.  Units responding were Loraine VFD, Colorado City VFD, Sheriffs Dept., DPS Units, CC PD Unit, Mitchell County EMS and two helicopters.  Photos courtesy of Shady Mitchell.

Mitchell County Relay for Life raises over $54,000.00 dollars for the fight againt cancer!

Loraine Fire Dept. thanks the Loraine Co-op Gin!

Loraine Fire Dept. Asst Chief, Doyle (Shady) Mitchell presented the Loraine Co-Op Gin board with a certificate of appreciation for their continued support of the Loraine Fire Dept. The fire department has used the yard and facilities of the Co-Op Gin for it’s annual Farm Auction for the past 24 years, with the exception of one year due to an extended ginning season. Mitchell says, “The Co-Op Gin goes to a lot of trouble and spends a lot of time getting the gin yard and buildings ready for us to use. Although we say thank you it does not convey the deep appreciation we feel for their help and support. This is just an example of people working together to make our community a safer and better place to live.”

Mrs. Eldon Mahon back in town!

Mrs. Eldon Mahon, age 92, was in town recently and stopped by the station. She and her husband were some of the original owners of KVMC Radio! This was her first time to be back in the studios in over 40 years.

Chamber of Commerce Banquet!

It was a full house Friday evening at the Civic Center, as the Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet got underway! A delicious meal, catered by Bama's House, was served to an estimated 120 persons, at tables decorated in a cowboy and western theme!

 

Pat Gillespie provided the music for the banquet.

Fire in Loraine destroys family home....

An early morning fire Saturday, Feb.9, destroyed the home of Frank Garcia, Jr. The home was located on Lucas Rd, north of I-20 in Loraine. This family of 5 lost everything. Anyone wanting to donate clothing-they are in need of men's shirt sizes medium and extra large, small, and women's medium. Pant sizes 33x30, 30x30, 36x34, girls size 4 and women's 8-10. Shoe sizes 7 1/2, 8, 9 1/2,10 and 10 1/2. Contact Shady Mitchell at 325-933-0113 for more information on any donations.

January is School Board Appreciation Month!

This month is School Board Appreciation Month and at Monday night's meeting of the Colorado ISD, the school board members were given certificates. Superintendant Reggie Spencer complimented the board for their work and cooperation.

Another successful stockshow goes down in the history books!  The premium auction wrapped up the event on Saturday, raising in excess of $100,000.  This years show was dedicated in memory of Frank Brownfield and Douglas Bell.

Loraine showing signs of progress!

Construction has started on the new Westside RV Park and Laundry mat in Loraine. The RV park will have 66 rv spaces and the laundry mat will be open to the public. Ten storage units are also being built on the site on Hinson St. and a sales yard for Cattle guards and culverts and H braces will also be on the premises. One car roll-over sends one to the hospital.

This accident, an single car roll over at the 227 Mile Marker on I-20 East bound, occurred at around 7:30 am this morning, December 28, 2012. Three people occupied the vehicle, one was transported to the hospital.  Shady Mitchell  Asst. Fire Chief Loraine
